Hi,
Im really new to wordpress.
Firstly i would like to setup a website that will be updated regularly.
I need to get a domain name (eg, http://www.test.com) and can I link wordpress directly to my domain name?
Meaning can i use WP to setup my website (just like dreamweaver) and when people click http://www.test.com, they can access my website?
If this is the case, under godaddy.com, do i have to purchase 2 items (Hosting plan for WordPress and Domain Name??)

Yes you can have WordPress service you whole site at yourdomain.com.
And yes you need a domain and a hosting plan...Godaddy can provide both. If you use Godaddy for hosting, get a Linux hosting plan.

But Godaddy offer 2 plans, one is for WordPress, while the other is for Linux.
Which is more suitable for WordPress?
Not sure what the WordPress plan is, but if the WordPress plan is one that uses Linux, then that's good.
You do not want a Windows plan.

The two plans you're referring to will support the use of WordPress.
WordPress Hosting - Go Daddy's advanced hosting architecture and a pre-installed version of WordPress.
Linux Hosting - Hosting space without any pre-installed applications, such as WordPress. Gives you the option to install WordPress manually or through our application community called Hosting Connection.

Well, i given up with godaddy.com, do not understand the reason why they need us to call for a call-in pin number and had to make me wait for 4 mins! its really costly to make an overseas call to the usa..
but anyway, right now i got my domain name and how do i link my domain name to wordpress?

Talk to your host and find out what name servers to point your domain to.

Sorry to hear you've given up! Our support staff asks for the pin number to validate account ownership.
There's multiple ways this can be handled depending on your situation. MichaelH provided some good documentation. Go Daddy also has an article for mapping your domain to a WordPress.com blog here: http://help.godaddy.com/article/5182
