   My full blog has fully related posts and for some daft reason it doesn't think anything is related, so is there a way to get it to show just random posts?

   There's a YARPP template called "random" which will show random posts if no related posts are found. You'll want to move the yarpp-template-*.php files to your active theme and then choose to use that template under YARPP options.
