[resolved] Can I delete an address and then move another site to that address? (5 posts)

I started a blog at one address, but decided I wanted a different one. So I created a new blog at the new address, thinking I would have to transfer everything to the new address by hand.

But then I noticed that WordPress has a built-in feature for transferring to a new address, so I could have just done that. But I've already created the new address, so I can't transfer. When I go to delete the address I've just created, it warns me that if I do that "I can never get its content or its address back."

Does that mean that I won't be able to transfer to that address after deleting it?

(For clarity, these are the sites I'm talking about: I want to move EinsteinUnderYourNose.wordpress.com to
    MiraclesUnderYourNose.wordpress.com . But I've already created miraclesunderyournose so I can't transfer.)

Before you do anything else, Use the Tools -> Export/Import functionality to import your old site's content to your new site.

Hey @jaykinetic, your sites are on wordpress.com so you'll get more specific help on the wordpress.com support forums.

(Here is some info on the difference.)

At wordpress.com, you can import and export your content from one blog to the other. If you need to empty the receiving site first, here is some info on that too: Empty site

There's no need to delete your old address, ever. You can just make it private but keep it in case you want it later.
