can I control where post excerpts show up? (4 posts)

    Here's my new problem:

I'm trying to use the regular categories for posts, but the way they work showing exerpts seems strange to me.

For example, I have a parent category called "Articles" then I have a child category called "Self Help". If I put an article under JUST the Self Help category it's excerpt shows up on the main page for the Articles and the Self Help category. I don't get how that makes sense. I would expect that if I checked off the parent and child category, but I only checked the child.

So, I'm hoping someone can clue me in to how to get this to work like I'd like. The really simple way to put it is that I only want excerpts to show up on the categories I check off in the admin section. If I check 2 it should show up on those 2, if I only check one it should only show up on the one.

    BIG TIA!

Sorry, I've never used sub-cats, so I'm not familiar with this exact problem. However, I have found that it's possible to manipulate things abit with plug-ins like these.
