Support » Fixing WordPress » Can I combine straight custom php pages and WordPress pages?

  • I am a small-time developer and have finally reached the point where I want to convert the work of the past 10 years into WordPress format with plugins. In other words, I want to quit re-inventing the wheel.

I’m not finding any comments about whether others have sites where there is quite a bit of content written straight in PHP and then another whole set of pages managed through WordPress. I cannot think of a reason this won’t work, but would like to hear comments and/or read other experiences with this practice.

At this point I’ve got working functionality
(for example http://www.integrativemedicinenw.com) and I want to upgrade their old shopping cart software (turned off now) to a WordPress plugin. Seems to me they could continue to use the existing management area for the regular news articles, etc and I’ll just add links to the new WordPress area with a shopping cart plug in for item management, etc.

Any reason this won’t work? or any things to watch for? obviously, files cannot be named the same. and I’ll have to customize the navigation to include both.

    thanks for your input!
