Can you hide the body of an entry "behind the cut"? To explain different, can you have a link from a front-page entry that leads to the direct-linked entry, with a body of text viewable only in the direct-linked entry? That's the best I can explain it, I think ...
I can't think of a better example than the way LJ has it set up ... (i.e. <lj-cut text="text">)
Just insert the <!--more--> tag in your post where you want the break.
BTW, there is a button for it... if you ever studied your own admin panel ;)

i never figured out what the more button was until i needed that solution and had to google for it. :P
