   Can I change names of the themes according to my favorite names ? I will use them for my wordpress powered multisite installation .

   I don't touch the themes which are restricted to modify or the themes with limitations .

   Go into the CSS of the theme and there are some lines giving information of the theme and change them accordingly !!

   I went trough that already .But I want to know if renaming theme names is against GPL terms or wordpress Terms and conditions .I mean that do I have right to change or chance for trouble from theme developers?

   I personally don't think so, if a theme is GPU v.2 then i think you can rename it. For further clearence goto :http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-2.0.html
