Can I safely change the name of the 'archives' folder? I've noticed that the big sites don't use a folder with the name 'archives'. Many of my posts are still timely for a long time, but 'archives' sounds like they are out of date. I would like to change 'archives' to something that doesn't infer out of date like 'topics'. Can I do this? Will it be retroactive? Thanks.
You don't have a folder called "archives".
Perhaps the issue is due to how I setup my Wordprss site. I've been running my website since 2007 and get fairly good listings in Google searches mostly because the topics I write about are uncommon.
When the posts get listed on a Google search, many times the url has 'tag archive' or 'archive' in the path. I want the url to be website.com/postname. Do you know what I did in the setup to create this problem?
My website url is:
http://coalgasificationnews.com

Does anyone know why the permalinks have 'tag archive' and 'archive'?
