Can I avoid a theme altogether? (2 posts)

I've been "faux-blogging" for a few months now, basically just writing txt files that are read at this web site:
    Denver BroncoBlog.

The layout in that page is pure CSS/XHTML, and I'd like to keep it that way with my WordPress blog. I've honestly been searching the site for a while, but it's all sort of muddled to me. Can I just create my own XHTML pages, using my own style.css file, and implement WordPress functionality?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, this is exactly how WP works. The layout is controlled by your choice of theme, whether you get an off-the-shelf one or create your own. The content comes from a database, which you maintain with the WP back-end admin area. Start here.
