Can Excel Spreadsheet be used as a widget or plugin? (8 posts)

I'm hoping this is the right forum for this question?

I have an Excel spreadsheet, like a form, with a number of user-completeable fields that then calculates. Ideally, I'd like to include it as a widget in the sidebar of my site, but don't have a clue how to convert it or whatever ...

Can this be done somehow? Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

You can't add a spreadsheet as a widget. The best you can do is upload the file and insert a link to it in your posts so that visitors can download it.

Just a thought, but there's a few plugins for Google Docs/Spreadsheets, perhaps one of those might be usable? I know it's not Excel... but still, might be an alternative route to consider if you get no joy.

    GNemes,

export the spreadsheet into something thats web friendly. MS lets you do that if you look at the export options. .xls files are NOT web friendly.

Alism -- good idea. I'd not thought of trying to use one of the Google apps. I'll check that out

whooami -- That's true. xls files aren't web friendly. I hadn't really tried to export it, but that's a thought. I'd like to keep the functionality and appearance if possible, but I expect this is gonna take some work.

Thanks so much for your ideas. I'll work on this!

You can insert it just like any other link.
