Sorry to be negative about this excellent plug-in that incorporates much hard work. But I had a serious nightmare with a "blank login page." = Cannot log-in to wordpress

Finally paid someone to reinstall my WordPress. He said the problem was AG Custom Admin. Maybe he was wrong?

I suggest a prominent reference to this potential problem--and how to fix it--on the Description page. Something like this:

(Important note: AG Custom Admin should always be updated before updating WordPress, or you may be unable to login to WordPress. If having this problem click here for the solutions.)

Perhaps I am wrong? This was not caused by AG Custom Admin?

P.S. Argonius has replied appropriately to this matter, saying:
Usually this is a JavaScript problem and the best solution is temporarily to disable JavaScript in your browser. Then you can log-in and selectively disable plug-ins until isolating the problem.

Argonius also assures to become more clear about this in future. Click here for detailed response at Argonius.com.

I am very sorry for the bad experience that you have with AG Custom Admin plugin. In most of cases this problem is not directly related to AGCA. Any JavaScript error thrown from any other plugin could cause this issue with AGCA.

I promise you that user will be better informed about this problem in next version, and probably I will add this message directly on the "blank" page, in order to find exact source of the problem.

    Thank you.

Upgraded to 3 stars due to appropriate response.

This is already rated overall a 4-5 star plug-in and should be once everyone is aware of this "disappearing log-in page" problem and made to feel in control of it.

    Wishing you continued success.

    Thank you sir.

Please check the latest AGCA version 1.2.7.1, it should contain popup message with troubleshooting instructions if page is not loaded correctly.

    Best Regards,
    Argonius

Hi argonius, did you ever find an answer to this? I am having the same problem. The js console states Uncaught Reference Error: ag_script.js?ver=1.2.7.3:382
When I activate the plugin, I get a blank login screen even though View Source sees the whole page, and so does Inspect Element in Developer. When I deactivate the plugin, login page works fine. I would love to use the plugin if possible. Looking forward to a reply.

This happens only in cases when you have errors in JavaScript. In your particular case it's ag_script which is probably not loaded or installed correctly.

Please paste the script URL directly in your browser to see if it's accessible. Try first something like this:
    /ag_script.js?ver=1.2.7.3:382
    and then something like this
    /ag_script.js

where you would use full script paths

Anyway, I think you could also try to remove it again, and to download and install fresh plugin from WordPress repository.

Thanks argonius, I will test both those solutions. I know there is nothing wrong with the plugin; I think it is great other than the login problem. I installed it via WP 'new plugin'. I was wondering if there is a conflict. I had akismet running, and not sure what else. I should have tried ag without each of those individually to check out which other is perhaps causing a conflict. I might do that later on today.
