I've looked through the posts similiar to my issue, but haven't seen any resolutions with my config. I'm running IIS 6.0, mySql and PHP on a W2k3 server. I'm getting the imfamous

    "Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the ibdata1 database."

I can pull up my config file so I know php is loaded and running. I'm new to PHP and MySql so I'm not really sure what else to do. Any thoughts/solutions would be greatly appreciated.

The message that your user/pw is OK, must mean that your PHP is working and that you have the credentials to talk to MySQL.
Are you sure, you are using the correct database name?
If you installed WordPress fresh, did make an empty database befor running install.php? The script will create the tables, but not the database.

If you upgraded, i.e. you already had a database for your blog, did you run the upgrade.php?

Hey Petit thanks for the feedback. I used the wizard out of MySQL to create the db and the name of the db is what I feed into the PHP config file in WordPress. Is that incorrect?

you may have one more step to do then -- specifically granting your wp user access to wp database you created. General links here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Step_2:_Create_the_Database_and_a_User

    If using phpMyAdmin: http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Using_phpMyAdmin

HandySolo: You're certainly right about that, thanks!
