I am having the exact same issue. When I click on an event for more details, I get a 404 Page not found. I’ve got it installed at http://www.callandresponsefoundation.org/events
You might want to test for a theme conflict by switching to one of the default themes like TwentyTwelve and see if the issue persists.

I noticed that you have the event and events slugs set to the same thing. This can cause problem, sometimes 404s. Would you mind changing them back to the defaults? This can be accomplished by going to WP Admin > Events > Settings, and setting the following fields to these values:
Events URL slug: events
Single event URL slug: event
After you have done that, you should flush your permalinks and try again. Permalinks can be flushed by going to WP Admin > Settings > Permalinks and clicking Save. Did that fix it for you?
