• Hello all,
I’ve got a problem with a web site I’ve setup. On the left sidebar are shown the last 5 headlines from 5-6 external rss feeds. Occasionally, if one (or more) of the external sites are busy or down my site loads only the header picture and the working rss feeds and then stalls, sometimes even for 4-5 mins.
The server is running OpenBSD 4.5-STABLE (i386), lighttpd 1.4.22 w/ fast-cgi (under chroot), php 5.2.8 with APC and mysql 5.0.77. When the problem occurs I stop lighttpd and have a php process still running, waiting for the feed to load I guess or for a ‘kill -9’ farewell.
I’m looking for a caching solution for the feed, as a wordpress plugin or even better as an external program or script running periodically from cron. I’d rather not update to 2.8.x for now, since everything else is pretty stable so far. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance
