After facing security problems we decided to recreate the site on a subdomain - we first tried to move everyhing throung the WP importer wich failed partialy because only posts were moved but not the images.

After several atempts we still can not figure out how to transfer images to posts - if it is done through ftp than they do not show in media library and I am therefore unable to insert the galleries manually). We managed to fill the media library but here the images are not cattalogued - they appear all mixed up in the same folder - with all thumbs and crops along - so this is a big mess!!!)

Is there anyone that could give me the right advice (none of the similar on this forum seems to work) how to transfer all the post with the right images together...?

There has to be a solution that would not make me do a one year work with all that pics once again!!! Please help.

How will moving to a subdomain help solve the security problem?

You might want to check out the documentation on moving WordPress.
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

Export and import the full database instead of using the WP importer. That's where all the media library information is.

Your image links probably use the full URL (i.e. http://etc...). Even if they are relative paths they probably do not reflect the new location of the files. You can use the Search & Replace plugin to update them all to the new URL or path simultaneously.

To @fonglh ... it was a malware attack very well disquised and somehow we just didn't come to clear our site from Google black list. So we set up a subdomain wanting to transfer just posts and imagest - everything else (settings, plugins, security....) is made from scratch...

plan ist to rebuild the site on a subdomain and when everything works as planed simply remove the broken original with new one...

Thanks for your advice though... although we read al sorts of docs on that issuue we somehow overlooked this option ... I'll post a note if it works.

Thanks @Jonas - I don't think this is the issuue 'couse when we finaly manage to put them into media library it's like they are stripped of all additional information (naming photos, de-attached from posts, no galery settings of featured images...)
