I have a single page site (i.e. all the pages show on the front page) and I configured Jetpack-Sharing to show the buttons on pages and posts. Then, I put the [jpshare] shortcode on each of my pages and made sure that the Allow Sharing checkbox is checked.

But, the buttons do not show on the front page, they only show when I preview the page by itself. For it to appear on the front page, I have to configure Jetpack to show buttons on the front page too, but then, I get double the buttons, which is not what I want.

I assumed your shortcode would allow me to place the sharing buttons on any page, no matter what the Jetpack configuration settings are, but I guess it doesn’t work this way, does it?

No, it doesn’t. This plugin respects your sharing options as they appear under Settings > Sharing in your dashboard.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to achieve though: wouldn’t it be ok to just deactivate my plugin and set your sharing settings to display buttons on Pages and on the Front Page?

    Hi Jeremy,
I want to place buttons in a custom location, so I thought that is what the shortcode option was for, I guess like the poster above. Why would I want 2 rows of buttons?

I guess it would make sense to add an option for “manual placement” of buttons and then the sharing options are totally ignored and the buttons displayed whenever the shortcode or template tag is put in to PHP code or content.

    Ok, found that post:

As said, I guess it would be more intuitive to have an option to use shortcodes and that they totally ignore the automatic settings.

    Hello all,

as landwire, I want to place my sharing button at a specific place and on only some pages. So, what is the best way to achieve that with jetpack and jetpack shortcode enable ? (without having sharing appearing twice)

    thanks,

    Sébastien

@sébastien You don’t need my plugin to achieve such results. You can follow the instructions in this tutorial instead:
