I have almost 1,000 links on my blog and need to bulk edit them. When I created them, I didn’t realize that they all contain depreciated attributes (i.e., “target=_blank” or “target=_self”).

I trusted that the insert/edit feature within each post composition window would not create an invalid markup, but now I’ve learned that all of my links receive the message: “Attribute “target” exists, but can not be used for this element.” when validating my site.

I also was unaware that it is considered bad manners to have visitors open up a new window or tab to view a link.

Is there any other way to eliminate every “target” reference without going through each place it’s located and editing it one at a time?

If figures!… after I do something the long way, I fall upon the information I needed to do it the quick and easy way!

Anyone else who may have this same experience with using “target=_blank” and wants to remove this depreciated attribute, I recommend reading how to employ getElementsByTagName.
