   I used to use a bulk category plugin to upload dozens of categories without manually creating them all.

   This plugin no longer seems to work with my new WordPress installations

   Is there another way to easily import dozens of categories into a blog without manually entering them?

   That would be easy to write.
   What is the format of the source?

   No not the file format, I assumed it's a txt. I mean what is the format of the data: csv, etc?

   For Instance:

   category1,category2,category3,category4,category5
