Building a New site?

First: I have searched WP.org data from articles, forums, etc and can’t seem to find the right answer. Spent about 3 hours doing that. I hope this will be easier, as the answer is probably right under my nose.

I have finished a WP.ORG site and now it’s in the care-taking mode. I have another niche picked out and would like to build another WP.ORG site (note: not WP.com…because of plug-in and adsense issues) Is there a way to just start building a new site with a new domain and hosting?

… the same way you built the wp.org site that in the care-taking mode … what exactly do you mean?

When I built site #1, I just downloaded WP and started building a site. I tried downloading again, to start a new site and received the “you already have the latest version of WP”. I feel really inadequate in these forums. I don’t know how to explain the problem. I do good at building a site, writing content, playing with themes, etc. I don’t do so good in the technical arena.

I didn’t mean to make you feel inadequate, I’m here to help. Sometimes I get confused with the questions asked here so I have to ask for clarification. That being said,
– You already have a new domain name and hosting, right? Point your new domain name to your webhost server.
– http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress where it takes you step by step towards the right path.

Hi I am new I want to start my gallery blog, but in the site does not say how to install the WordPress on a Mac so where do I start? thanks for your help

paulmall, you should really have started a new thread.
If you only want a local development server that you can access, its easy enough to set it up on XAMPP or MAMP.

If you want your blog to be readable by anyone, it needs to be installed on a webserver – not your mac. See the link posted by mercime above.

Start with a web hosting package that supports the minimum requirements.

Yhe multiple site question seems a little confusing to me. It seems lie you are trying to install wp over the onstallation using fantastico or something.

If you want the second site setup on it’s own domain then setup anew domain on your server and install. Or you can setup a subdomain and install it there. I suppose that you could also install into a new directory. Just make sure you create a new db too.

I personally would just use wpmu.

Thanks for all the replies. It was right under my nose. My hosting is w/ BluHost. I went in to my account, cpanel and software/services…clicked on WordPress and PRESTO.. I unpacked a new site. Thanks to all…and I am inadequte…but feeling much better. I may even get over it.
