Building a custom Product Category Lookup

Hi All,

I’m trying to setup a ecommerce website using woocommerce. On my home page i want to display subcategories from a parent product category as a combo box so that user can pick up like “I want a shaver that [combobox]”. I found that we can build a combo box to display the categories in wordpress here http://bit.ly/hmcIPm but how do we query or list the product(sub) categories in the combo box from the woocommerce product categories. If you can give me a guiding line or the place from where to refer the API for this, I would definitely be thankful.
