I’ve been asked by a friend to redesign his site with WP. He wants to keep his flash site up until the WP version is complete. What would be the best way to build and show him progress on the new WP version while still keeping the flash version up and running on his servers? Can it be built in one place and drug over when ready without losing any work?

What would be the ideal way to make the switch when ready? (He uses network solutions).

    Thanks for your time.

Install in a sub-directory then "move" WordPress to the root when you want to take things live. The "move" is only a couple of files and settings in the Dashboard, BUT please do the changes in the right order and not corner cutting. The last move I did was less than 5 min and would have been quicker but I had a spelling error in my index.php file.
