BUG? Wacky redirection! (15 posts)

"Too many redirects occurred trying to open “http://www.asuperherobynight.com/wp-admin/. This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page."
    I can't login. I can't post now.
I installed 1.2, and had that password fiasco. I tried to fix that through Myphpadmin, and when I returned to log in, I got this redirection. I don't know why, and I don't have the slightest idea how to fix it.
The other page that's redirecting to /wp-admin is "http://www.asuperherobynight.com/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php"
I then threw my old 1.02 back on when this happened, and it's still happening. Really awesome. I'm so happy I upgraded. Please help.

I had this problem after upgrading myself. I believe what fixed it was closing all my browser sessions and opening a new one back up. Try clearing your cache as well. Hope it helps.

Well, changing the password works, and I can login in Explorer, but the password didn't change to anything I understood. It took whatever that string was from http://bfl.rctek.com/tools/?tool=hasher, and i have to type that long string in, as opposed to simply typing in the word i wanted to use as my password in the first place.
I'm betting that figuring all this crap out will be harder than just moving over to Moveable Type. Hopefully I'm wrong.

    hmm... try these:
    1. clean the cache.
    2. try an alternate browser.
    3. try resetting the password.
    4. did u tried using the redirect rulez?

It works in explorer now, but not safari. am I to believe that Safari just doesn't work with the new wordpress, then?
And what does #4 mean, sushubh?

yeah, who cares about that option, if i can't freaking update my blog using the browser that I want to?

actually using wrong permalinks can mess up the blog for u, hence i asked.
i wish i had a mac to test it. i dont believe wp would have anything against safari!

I had the exact same problem (multiple redirect on login) after upgrading from 1.02 to 1.2 with Safari browser. Emptying the browser cache fixed it. I really like WordPress! Thanks...

I had 1.2 working fine, then this just kicked in the other day. Spent at least an hour or two, ended up going into the authorization function, forcing it to accept the credentials it should be accepting anyway, it let me in, I put the code back, and everything works fine. Looks like the MD5 hash got screwed up or something -- or somehow something else got invalidated based on a time expiration, but didn't get cleaned up proper-like. ;)

I fixed it by using Firefox instead. It still doesn't work in safari. I'm thinking that it's Apple's deal. Because there's a bug in safari when i use flickr sometimes, too.

I should have noted, this was on the PC, in Firefox 0.8, everything else working peachy-keen for weeks on end... ;)

superhero - you seem to be having a rough time. One bit caught my eye. When you said you have to type in that long string from hasher in your blog. The hashed id is copied and pasted into phpadmin. At the interface you should use the normal password.

hey, as long as it works in firefox, i'll stick with it. apple can shove it. I'm even more pissed that they ripped off Konfabulator, though.
