   Hi
   It's become impossible to post a comment to a blog entry the normal way. After writing the comment and clicked Submit, one gets a yellow-labeled message stating "Error: please type a comment." as if there was nothing written in the comment field.
   I've tried in Safari (2.0.4) and Firefox (2.0.0.4) on Mac (OSX 10.4.10) - in Firefox I succeeded after reloading the page and reentering the comment. Several users with different privileges have reported the same problem.
   Is this a bug? Solution?

   Running WP 2.2 and K2 0.95 with these plugins active:
   - Akismet 2.0
   - Disable WordPress Widgets 1.0
   - E-mail users 2.3

   - Subscribe to comments 2.1

   - WP-EMail 2.10
   - WP-SlimStat 0.9.2

   if you want help,please turn OFF the "must register to leave a comment" crap. I, and a lot of others are NOT going to register just to help you.

   Done - kept it on to avoid spam. You will still experience the same problem, but just in the "blogg" (not in the forum part).
   No need to be harsh though, even if you had a good point.

   my friend .. yabba, surfs w/o javascript and was able to comment.

   I cannot, with js enabled. UNTIL he posts w/o js.

   In other words, he had to comment first.

   If i look at the http_post being sent after filling out all the fields in your form:

   author=whoo
   &email=whoo%40somehwere.com
   &url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.domain.com
   &comment=
   &subscribe=subscribe
   &submit=Submit&comment_post_ID=96

   You'll notice that the comment is empty.

   Additionally, this file is sending an apache 500 error.

   What do your server logs say?
   And what happens if you use another theme?

   PS: Its not nice to subscribe ppl w/o theyre knowing.

   You are presently doing that :)

   Thanks for all your effort.
   I could try another theme, at least upgrade to the latest of both WP and K2.
   1 - What should I actually ask our ISP for, regarding the server logs?
   2 - Subscribing - you're thinking about subscribing people to eventual responses to their comments? Or are you thinking of something else?

   the http_post is sending a subscribe -- I dont know if thats intentional on your part or not, or if you are even uing a subscription plugin, and yeah it looks like for follow up comments.

   You ought to upgrade to 2.2,1, yes, but thats probably not going to fix this issue. there's alot going on there. I would start with disabling the plugins that are adding stuff to comments... that doesnt work .. then I would start by trying another theme -- and seeing if that makes it go away.

   Eventually, something will work.

   I realize thats not a quick fix - but you have SO much going on in your comments -- view your source when you are looking at one of your permalink pages -- scroll down to where the comment form starts and take a look until it stops. Its valid and all.. but I dunno. :(

   Here's the quick fix: remove TinyMCEComments.
   Tried also to upgrade to latest version, but there's either a plugin conflict (tried to remove all other comment related plugins, but it seems that Tiny causes the problems) - or it doesn't work with K2.
   We'll manage without.
