I think I’ve noticed this behavior before, but it just occurred to me this morning what’s happening.

I’ve previously added an ‘events’ link to the navigation menu using that option in General Settings, and then arranged that menu link under another menu item in Appearance > Menus, say for example, Calendar > Events.

Then if I re-save changes to the Event Organiser settings that ‘events’ link is moved from where I’d previously placed it and it shows up at the end of the menu as a top-level menu item, requiring me to go back to Appearance > Menus and move the link back to where I had previously placed it.

Is there any way to check if that link has already been added to the menu so that it doesn’t override the previous menu placement when saving any other EO changes?

Thanks for reporting this. Seems WordPress updates all properties of the menu item not just the one you specify (that you want updated) hence it was loosing the position (and parent) of the menu item.

Will be fixed in 2.0 (due out next week).
