so I have customized the Beuno theme for my wife's blog and for some reason, some of the featured images will not get cropped to 490x200. they are getting squashed instead of cropped. but some of them crop just fine. I can't figure out why some work and some don't. when I look at the uploads folder, it just seems like some of them it doesn't create the cropped images for.

I didn't get it to work...I've been cropping these images myself. I let my wife upload them and see if it will do it automatically, and if not I just crop the images for her. there's no rhyme or reason to whether or not it decides to crop them. some it does, some it doesn't...
