I have no plans to do so at this time, but please tell me what type of integration you would want?

    Thanks for your fast response.

I mean something like Collabpress, every group have their own projects and tasks. So in this plugin every group has their own calendar and sign up sheets.

The way the plugin is right now, you can use arguments in the shortcodes, or with the url, to specify specific sheets to list on a page, so it’s possible to show only certain sign up sheets on a group page.

But otherwise, no, there is no integration with Buddypress. We do not use BP on our PTA web site, so that wasn’t something that was needed or useful for us when I developed the plugin.

If enough people are interested in this type of integration, I will look into it in more depth and see if it’s possible without a major rewrite.

Also looking for an elegant integration of this capability with buddypress. I also started with Sign Up Sheets Lite from DLS (which is far too lite to be really useful for a church). I stumbled across your plugin when evaluating whether the Pro version of the DLS plugin would be worth the money.

I’m testing using your shortcodes and BP … OK so far.

One thing I’d like is to be able to have one registered user sign up multiple volunteers who are not necessarily registered with BP. would like to capture each individuals email/phone so I can send reminders.

Maybe there’s already a way to do this but I haven’t cracked the code yet 🙂

Thanks for the comments. I don’t have much experience at all with Buddypress, so I’ll have to take a look and figure out how most people are using it, and how/if there is a way to hook my plugin into the Buddypress system.

As far as having one person sign up multiple volunteers, that is already possible. Even people without a user account on your system can sign up if you make it available to the public. If you don’t make it available to the public, you can still have one registered user sign up multiple people… when they click on a “sign up” link for a task/item, their name, email, and phone will be pre-filled (if already stored in their user meta) HOWEVER, they can still input different info in those fields and that info will be saved for that sign-up for the admin/manager users to see on the back end.

    ha … I hadn’t thought to try over-typing the pre-fills!

excellent, for now I’m happy using shortcodes. If I create an event in BP I can add the shortcode to the description and then the signup sheet is displayed anytime someone looks at the event detail.

I’m also looking for BuddyPress Group integration.

Would like any group member to be able to create a new volunteer event and sign-up sheet from within the group, and not have to go to the WP admin interface. When a member signs up, it would use their BuddyPress profile info.

Thanks for the comments and interest in these integration ideas. As of right now, I’ve had only 3 people request this type of group/owner integration along with front-end creating of sign-up sheets.

This is not a simple modification and will take quite a bit of additional programming and testing. The plugin works fine for our own PTA needs right now, and since I have a family to feed and make no money at all from this, any really big changes/additions like this are going to be very low priority in my already very busy schedule.

One person who contacted me privately may be willing to help subsidize the development of this plugin to move it up to the front of my priority list. If a few other people were willing to step up and contribute to the project, then I would certainly get to work on it as soon as possible. Otherwise, I can’t make any promises as to if or when I will get to adding this type of functionality.

It’s not all about the money, as these were originally volunteer projects I did for my son’s school PTA web site, but since money is tight and I have a family to feed, paying projects take priority over everything else.

I have created a Groups extension for this plugin, which you can get here:

    https://stephensherrardplugins.com/plugins/pta-volunteer-sign-up-sheet-groups/

This is the first step in trying to fulfill the requests for Groups and BuddyPress integration. Although it seems that adding groups/categories would be relatively simple, it was certainly not as easy as it first seemed to do it in an elegant way, and provide some options to allow site owners to customize the way things appear.

I’m still a LONG ways off from front end sheet creation and full BuddyPress integration, as those will require quite a bit more programming and testing, not to mention sorting through the horrible BuddyPress documentation to try to figure out how they do things.

For now, with this Groups extension, you can import as many of your BuddyPress Groups as you want into the Groups list, as well as create your own groups (BuddyPress is not required). Once you create the list of groups, it really doesn’t interact with BuddyPress, but you can now create shortcodes with the group argument to show volunteer lists for specific groups on separate pages for each group.

There are also two default groups: “None” and “All”. When you first activate this plugin, all existing signup sheets will be set to the group “None”, so they won’t show up in any lists that use the group shortcode argument (but you can edit the sheet and assign them to any group at any time). The “All” group is for creating sign-up sheets that you want to appear on any sign-up sheet list whether or not you include a group argument in the shortcode.

I hope some of you find this useful! As I have slow time, I will continue to work on further extensions for front end submissions and BuddyPress integration.
