   Is it not possible to create a forum without creating a group? I'd like to have a few general forums that everyone would have posting access to, as well as the individual group discussion forums, and then only display the general forums on the "Forums" page.

   Am I missing something?

   No, it's not. Forums are parts of Groups. Just create a "general discussion" group and perhaps style that forum directory differently; take a look at how http://buddypress.org/support/topics/ does it (those are Groups).

   The BuddyPress forums at the above link is also the best place for BuddyPress questions, as more eyes look there.

   I just wish I didn't have to have a whole "general" group just to have a "general" forum, KWIM?
