The brute force was working correctly for a while now it is not. I was able to get in to the admin panel through .htaccess backup and replacement of empty one. Now I set it again to something different I still cannot get in another browser. When I go to the special admin login url, it gives me 404 error. What am I doing wrong?

Double check how you are entering your secret word in your URL and make sure that it is correct.

Another thing you should check is whether you have the white list feature enabled.
If you have white list enabled, then make sure that you enter the correct IP address in the white list settings - otherwise you will get a 404 error because the plugin will not allow you to access the login/admin pages.
