I know that this is not really a wordpress-specific question, but the answer to this question will certainly help my wordpress site dev.

I am wondering if anyone knows of a html editor or browser plugin that will allow me to toggle on and off the borders of block-level elements that have id and class names, and which will actually display the name of the elements.

I currently have Chris Pederick’s ‘web developer’ extension for FF (http://chrispederick.com/work/webdeveloper/), and this is a great start, as it can display element outlines, but I would really like to see the elements’ id/class names.

    Anyone know of one?

    Thanks.

Solved my own problem, there actually is a way to do it with the web developer extension…

If you select ‘outline current element’ from the outline menu, a panel comes up that indicates the name of the element being hovered over, and names of all parent elements.
