“The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.”

That is the message I got from my dashboard when I uploaded a new theme (Simple red theme) now. What do I do and how to correct it?

Any help or guide would be tremendously appreciated.

Is there a style.css on your server?

Yes, Gangleri, there is style.css and it is not empty, all codes seem to be there.

Is there an index.php file in your theme?

It needs one in order to work, as that is what it means when it says there needs to be a template.

Thanks markdw, I don’t think so (except you tell me that “Main Index Template” is the same thing as index.php file), this list below is all I have on the simple red theme files:

    Stylesheet
    ads.php
    Comments
    Footer
    functions.php
    Header
    Main Index Template
    Page Template
    Sidebar
    Single Post

You will have to “explain” to WP why your theme is in such a strange directory:
    <link href="http://www.telenovelastories.tv/wp-content/themes/_ControlPanel/simpleredtheme/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

    What is that “_ControlPanel” folder???
I bet that’s the reason the WP installation doesn’t see it.

Thanks moshu, quite an age. its only when problems drive us to this forum that we meet great guys like you again.

yes strange folder indeed, and i don’t know too. Could that be the reason why my image logo on the header is oversized?

I saw ther same theme fixed similar problem at this other blog, that is why i went for the theme.

    Focus on ONE thing.
I have no idea what are you talking about that other site and your logo… Those are absolutely not related.

Your theme is NOT uploaded normally. I gave you that path to show what the problem is: that obsolete folder. Delete it.

okay thanks, i’d do just that!

problem resolved after deleting the strange “_ControlPanel” folder and also all plugins easily unzipped and activated afterwards.

    thanks guys.
