Broken Theme - missing css & template (6 posts)

I have a theme that is around 63mb. I tried to upload it from my WP site, and that didn't work. Then I used Filezilla FTP Client to transfer the theme into the themes folder. While it was uploading I wanted to browse the themes in WordPress and to check the progress of my new "uploading" theme. Well, WP stated that it was broken because of missing CSS & missing template. I allowed the upload to finished and I logged back onto WP and I got the same problem. I deleted the file off the server. Same problem. I reinstalled WP and uploaded the them again. Same problem.

I bought the theme from themeforest. I uploaded the unzipped version on WP when I did the uploading. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hey Sean,

You need to upload the theme ZIP file itself. The ZIP file you uploaded is the entire package you get from ThemeForest which also contains any documentation, PSDs, etc. that the author included.

You can get more help with this particular problem in the Envato knowledgebase in this article: http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/269/0/my-wordpress-theme-isnt-working-what-should-i-do

    Hope that helps! :)

So, when I upload the zip file, it fails and I get the error that the file is too large.

So, I figured out the problem. I accidentally bought the HTML 5 template and not the wordpress theme.

Easy to do since they look identical. ...Now I have to figure out how to get a refund for that, but maybe the theme will work.

    maybe the theme will work.

No an HTML5 template won't work on a WP site. But hopefully they will give you a refund or perhaps a credit so you can purchase a WP theme instead.
