    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en-US"

    add /> at the end

    this probably lead to the output of the characters into the header.

    try and see if that solves the problem.

    Thank you

    Unfortunately, that did not fix the issue on the home page. I’m still digging.

    It seems to be appearing on/near line 65 of header.php.

    < body class="home blog"> ' /&gt ;

    or possibly the yoast google site verification (?)

    Yes, I am thinking it is the Google site verification. However. I have removed it from the site deactivated the plug in and the tag is still there.

    Your symptom does not appear while viewing single.php or page.php. Only on the home page. I think that might rule out my thoughts on header.php. It only seems to be there when body_class(); = home blog, and I can’t duplicate it on a fresh theme install. Maybe disable all of the plugins to rule them out completely, and think back on any edits you may have made outside of the themes options pages. Very strange…

    ClaytonJames,

    I’m just getting into this so it is all new. I have been deactivating plugins trying to not seriously screw up the site (New client). I have gone through the php and css but can’t find anything so far. It appears only in the Google verification/SEO plug in in the header on the home page every other page is fine. The creator of the plugin has not responded
    Thank you for helping me!

    Lois
