Broken redirects? (4 posts)

Just trying to figure out how to fix the redirects on my site.
Basically, right now the site URL is set to http://www.blog.com
My problem is that any request to another domain which points to the same spot (ie. blog.com which has an A record for the same IP), the page requested gets dropped...

so, if you request http://blog.com/ you get http://www.blog.com
but if you request http://blog.com/cat1/page2 you also get http://www.blog.com

Any ideas on how I can have this redirect the way i need it? ie. any requests to another domain get changed to http://www.blog.com but retain the original request?

WP 3.0.1 and I've tried disabling all plugins/themes to no avail.

Also, when accessing files in the root dir, i can get to both without WP redirecting me. ie. http://www.blog.com/image.png and blog.com/image.png both work, with no redirection. i don't really need the redirection for these static files, as nothing will be linking to them... but for the WP pages I need to be able to use either domain and have it redirect to the correct one.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

    This problem is still persisting...

    Any ideas?

The apache canonical redirects appear to be working fine, but any pages in wordpress, it doesn't work...

I can provide actual site details if necessary via pm if anyone wants to troubleshoot.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

Wait... That doesn't make sense compared with this:

so, if you request http://blog.com/ you get http://www.blog.com but if you request http://blog.com/cat1/page2 you also get http://www.blog.com

Do you mean you have blog1.com and blog2.com at the same IP or something else? The problem, as your second quote describes it, sounds like an .htaccess wacky.

    Sorry for the confusion...

    The only domain is blog.com

I want any requests to blog.com to be redirected to http://www.blog.com (the main site)

Right now, if you make any request on just blog.com, ie. blog.com/page1 it doesn't go to http://www.blog.com/page1... it goes to http://www.blog.com

    Hope that clears it up.

    Cheers,

    Andrew
