I recently updated a WordPress blog which I hadn't actually been using much to 2.0, since I'd just done a big redesign on the site it's on and wanted to start using the blog more as part of that.
Everything appeared to go fine, but then I found that many of the links were broken. Clicking on the "More" link after a post excerpt, or on the comment link, resulted in a 404. After searching the forums, I found a reference to this possibly being related to using "pretty permalinks", so I checked and I did indeed have date-based permalinks set up. I changed it back to the default permalink structure and that seemed to fix it.
However, it also gave me a big warning saying "You should update your .htaccess now." - with no indication of *how* I was supposed to update it. I mean, I know how to edit an .htaccess file, but what does it want me to do to it?
And is there any way of getting the pretty permalinks to work in 2.0, or do they just not work in this version at all?
Also - there does not appear to be any link anywhere for new users to register, although I do have it set to allow them to. Maybe this is a quirk of my theme (a slightly modified version of Connections)? Do I need to add that link to the theme manually?
The blog in question is http://www.wildideas.net/news/ in case that's relevant.
