[resolved] Breaks my sliders and other stuff when trying deactivate or uninstall plugin. (3 posts)

    I was using it but didn't care for the button placement I chose so I change changed it and it broke my sliders. I tried deactivating and uninstalling and my sliders were still broken. One disappeared completely and would not reinstall.

    I tried other themes with sliders and they are all broken even after removal of the plugin. i restored my data base from before I made the changes and one slider worked the other still not there and it also broke a clock I was using on a page. I had to install another clock plugin to get it working again.

    I would post my site here but it contains a lot of swearing and cursing so I don't want to offend anyone.

    Can you please give me instructions on how to fully remove the plugin so it stops breaking things on my site even after I do the standard uninstall?

    Thank you for creating the plugin but it just isn't working for me.

    Hi,

    Sorry to hear things haven't worked out for you when using the plugin.

    It shouldn't be causing you problems but with so many thousands of plugins and themes available, it's inevitable that some are going to clash. Could you please let me know the themes and plugin combinations that you are using so that I can try and recreate the problem myself?

    Ok, if problems are still apparent after you have deleted the folder and contents of the 'simple-share-buttons-adder' directory, then it must be database related.

    Simple Share Buttons Adder only adds to/edits the wp_options table, and all option_name values are prefixed with 'ssba_' (for simple share buttons adder) in the hope that the rows will be unique. Is there for example a plugin you're using such as 'Simple Sliding Banner Adder' that may have done the same?

    Could you please run the following SQL statement on your DB and let me know the results it returns?

    SELECT * FROM wp_options WHERE option_name LIKE 'ssba_%';

    This will return all the rows added by this plugin (and more if other plugins have created similar).

    If you're 100% sure that all the returned results were only added by this plugin then run the following code:

    DELETE FROM wp_options WHERE option_name LIKE 'ssba_%';

    If that deletes any other plugin options, deactivating and reactivating those again should add the required options back.

    If you still have problems please let me know.

    Thanks,
    David

    Closing due to no response, presuming this situation has been resolved.

    I'll happily reopen the support ticket if required.

    Thanks,

    David
