breadcrumb menu gets covered (not clickable)

The pattern I’m seeing is that for all “pages” the breadcrumb navigation is getting overlayed by the icon that gets added by the .format-icon:before css selector.

It’s fine for all “post” types, but for some reason the pages is showing this behavior. Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?
I’ve tried to figure out the issue, but have been unsuccessful beyond discovering that the issue is resolved by shrinking the size of the icon by changing the font-size: to 1.5em (but then the icon is way too small).
