    No themes no plug-ins did a straight manual install. Doesn’t make any sense. All directories in the WordPress folders are completely open unlocked with permissions set to everyone. When you try to oPen the ADMIN PAGE, it’s blank. I can load edit.php and navigate within the administrator but if I go visit site, I get “Access Forbidden” as if the directory is locked.

    tried changing the theme, but it’s the same. Tried an older version of WordPress and it’s the same thing. Sure it’s something simple but I don’t see why this is happening if it’s a permissions issue.

    I suggest you change the permissions back.

    Also when trying to post, clicking on image our media button nothing happens. Cannot add images. Tried Safari and Firefox, neither works.

    Back to what? Read only? Then for sure it won’t work.

    Did the installation process work with the original permissions?

    No, got the Access Forbidden directly after the Install successful page. When trying to access the main page.

    Is this a local install? What server are you using?

    Check your perms, for OSX you can stand at the top of the webroot… which on 10.6+ is /Library/WebServer/Documents unless you have moved it elsewhere… and use the following two commands from terminal to reset all the permissions to something sane:

    find . -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;
    find . -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;

    Will set all the files in the folder to 644 (owner read and writable) and everyone else Read, and directories to owner read/write/execute and everyone else read/execute.

    Server is flaky, needs to have OSX upgraded. Making the folder Everyone Read/Write should allow WordPress access. The weirdest thing is that I can access all of the Site Administrator by accessing wp-admin/edit.php, until I try to access the site itself or Preview pages. The files are not locked, nor the directories. Still, should not be getting this error, permissions are wide open. I’ve been running previous versions of WordPress on this same server (my own) for years without problems. This one has me baffled.
