   If I use an external writer to write and upload a post, the angled brackets <> get stripped from markup codes when opening it subsequently in the web-based editor. I can see the full markup codes for about half a second before the brackets get stripped.

   This behaviour appears with WLW and w.bloggar, so it is not caused by the external writer.

   Any idea what could cause this behaviour and what I could about it?

   If you're adding markup, use the HTML tab - not the Visual Editor.

   Thanks, esmi, but that did not solve the problem.

   I have been able to trace it back to an old version of PHP and libxml2 used by my hosting provider. For more info: http://josephscott.org/archives/2009/03/conclusion-of-libxml2-issues-use-php-529-libxml2-273/
