I have wordpress blogs where I have some affiliate links. Of late I found unusual clicks on these links from bots. I just want to know (a)How to identify these bots? (b)How to filter these bots or say avoid/ban these bots from automatically clicking my links? Please let me know if there is any tool or plugin which is effective.

    thanks in advance...

    a) Look at your webserver's access logs

    b) If they're search bots, you can tell them not to "click" (follow) a specific link by adding rel="nofollow" to the <a> tag. You can also use the the robots meta tag to affect all of the links on a given page. Third option is to use a robots.txt to tell bots not to visit certain parts of your website at all.

Telling search bots not to follow a link or view a page can the linked page's ranking in search engines and whether it appears at all.

I use WP No External Links to selectively add rel="nofollow" to external links only, but WordPress also has it's own function for it.
