Borrowing Header From One Theme for Another (6 posts)

Gradually, after much looking, I'm coming up with a theme I consider useful, but it has a poor header. Another similar theme has a header very much like what I want, including a horizontal menu and site-search.

Is it practical to borrow a header from one theme for another?

If so, what is the procedure? I have a bit of CSS experience.

    Thanks for any help!

Basically make sure it's the same size.
Rename it to same as the one you are replacing.
    Upload to replacement location.

This is if it's not based on default theme.

The original one is just a piece of centered text. Minimum.

The one I wish to use has the typical graphic header w/text overlay.

Is that a problem, or less of one?

I wish to take the header from this theme:

    http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/1-column/789/wucoco-one-column-0100/

And stick it on this theme:

    http://themes.wordpress.net/columns/1-column/1584/braintied-10/

[colors, horizontal spacing, etc. will be tweaked]

    Thanks for any help!

the only caution I have as I have some experience with doing this is to make sure you are matching up div tags and go through a local run run through on all pages locally before putting it on your blog.
