It's not entirely done yet, but I'd like to know if I'm going in the right direction before I put any more time into it. I'd really like to know if the title-less header image is okay, or if it looks odd with just a picture of books.

Hi elfortunawe and welcome.
I like the site but there are two things you could improve:
1- You should add a title for the blog on the top.
2- The pages titles should contrast more with the background color.
What do you think?
I hope these suggestions will help you in some way :).
