• I have recently created my website using the Bold theme by Site5. You can see my site at http://www.zevendesign.com. For theme supports prettyphoto jQuery. I am adding photo restorations to my portfolio and would like for the “featured image” to have a prettyphoto box that opens a two image gallery (the before and after of the restored images). I’ve looked up the documentation on prettyphoto and it appears there is some PHP code to do it (I am very new to PHP and WordPress) but the problem is that I want to make this applicable to only certain entries in the portfolio, not all of them.
Hope this all makes sense. If anyone could tell me how to pull this off it would be much appreciated.

  • Hey. Your site looks great! I think I can help you with the prettyPhoto issue. Go to http://wordpress.site5.net/boldy/doc/ and they have the documentation for what you’re looking to do. When you edit your image, make sure you use the correct spelling “prettyPhoto”. The capital “P” makes all the difference in the world. You can apply this to the images you choose.

I hope this helps. Now here’s a question for you. I can not figure out how to set up the portfolio to save my life! It’s driving me crazy. There are no real directions to speak of, so I’m at a loss right now. Can you explain how you got yours set up?

    Thanks.

Thanks and I have it working as indicated in the documentation. However, what I’m trying to do is use more of the prettyphoto functionality, such as the gallery function.

In the portfolio, I want to add a section for photo restorations. I want a single “thumbnail” in the portfolio, that when clicked, will bring up a prettyphoto gallery containing two images—before and after.

Thod24 – to set up the portfolio, create a post category called Portfolio. Then create subcategories with this as it’s parent category. That’s pretty much the simplicity. You can email me at rikard(at)zevendesign.com if you’re still having problems with it.

Zeven – Thanks for the reply. I forgot to come back and let you know that I got it up and running. I know if I want to figure something out, I come here, ask for help, click “post”, and then wait 30 seconds. The answer usually magically appears out of nowhere. That’s how it seems to work with me.

Could you produce the image on a transparent background in Photoshop and add the before and after images, saving it as a single image? That may not be what you;re looking for, but just a suggestion.

    Thanks again for the reply!

If you go to the html instead of visual tab for the post you can change the prettyPhoto rel to prettyPhoto[pp_gal]. Do this for all photos & it creates a prettyPhoto gallery of the images in the post. It’s a manual work around but it definitely works. I hope this helps.

Your site looks awesome. I’ve posted on a couple forums for Boldy, just trying to figure out something basic. I’ve read the documentation, I’ve set up three dummy pages, I’ve selected the pages in the options, and the page that the home boxes are supposed to be on, but no home boxes appear (and no slideshow either.)

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks John. I created the home box pages and then used the WP created links for these in the boldy theme options. For the slider, I used firefox add-on Web Developer to tell me how large the slideshow images were and then created my slideshow images to this size and again, created a page with all the images and then used the WP created link in the boldy theme options.

Hi! your web looks awesome by the way! but… Why is it that when I install the prettyphoto plugin my slider images dont load and the 3 home page boxes dissapier! :,(

Hi Albert, Not entirely sure, however the Boldy theme has the prettyPhoto built in thus you should not need to install the plugin separately. I would try to deactivate the plugin and see if the problem still exists.

Its weird.. I installed it because I couldnt find the prittyphoto option to put it on the advanced image settings!

    thanks anyway!

Albert – can you provide a link to the site?

ok.. so I found the prettyPhoto part without the plugin reinstaled.. but now I cant do this

Are you assigning feature images for each portfolio post? I believe this is how the portfolio category is populated with images.

    Yup!

I even tried the portfolio page (on portfolio template) with sub category (for drop down manu)…

and portfolio category with sub categories post

    Im confused now LOL

Hmmm, well if you’re willing to email me your dashboard login I’ll see if I can figure it out.

I get this on the portfolio PAGE

Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /home/blunicar/public_html/click.com.ni/wp-content/themes/boldy/portfolio.php on line 12
