Please help! My site has been getting a 500 Internal Server Error for the past 24 hours. Bluehost said that it was because they are updating their servers. When I call, they tell me to wait another 45 minutes. This is frustrating and unprofessional. Does anyone have a suggestion?
Ask your host for compensation (like a discount for the days you were down).

Not that I know of! I've never been down longer than 5 minutes
Not common at all! For any decent host (and yeah, BlueHost is generally decent).
My blog was down for no longer than 2 minutes - I was trying to post a new article when it happened. It was a pleasant surprise to find my article was auto-saved before it happened.
