I am trying to install WP 3.1 using simple scripts on a domain I transferred to Bluehost for this purpose. It says it has installed WP, but when I try to access it, I get an error message that says "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)" Can anyone tell me what I need to do to resolve this problem?
I know I am entering the correct domain name, and I have tried it both with and without the www. Either way I install it, I get the same error message.
Heidi,
I checked your account and saw your domain is registered through 1&1, and currently points to them. You won't be able to use your domain to access the website yet.
You can get details of that here: https://www.bluehost.com/cgi-bin/dig (put in your domain name and see what the External Resolver shows). Just contact 1&1 for help changing your name servers to Bluehost's: ns1.bluehost.com and ns2.bluehost.com and you should be set in a couple hours.
Please contact our support if you need anything more. We're always here for you!
