    Hi there,
I have an existing blogger blog http://fourjandals.blogspot.com/ which I am trying to import in to WordPress so that I can then use it on my new domain I brought last night on DreamHost.

I brought a domain name and shared-host package and after one-click installing WordPress with DreamHost I cannot import my existing blog. I go to > wp-admin > import.php but all it says is "If you have posts or comments in another system, WordPress can import those into this site. To get started, choose a system to import from below: No importers are available."

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Cole

This article has some general information on importing from Blogger.

First, though, you'll need to export your posts from your Blogger account as explained here.

Thanks. But as explained in my original post all I get is the following message when I click > Import

    No importers are available.

So not sure what I am meant to do now!

On the Tools->Import screen, you should see a list of importers that you can install.

Or you can just search for them as plugins and install them. For example:

did you guys even bother to read his post?

He's saying that he doesn't have any import options because all it says is: No importers available! That means there is no option to install plugins from the page directly because it doesn't give the option to. There are no import options at all. Period.

I'm having the same problem. I did a one click install from dreamhost on my personal website and it gives me no import option either. I have yet to find any documentation on it, or a helpful post on how to fix it. So if anyone knows what the problem is, granted you read what the concern is before linking to the importing content section of the forum, that would be nice.

Yes. Did you bother to read the replies? Like the one that even pointed him to where he can download the import plugins?

There's potentially something to do with permissions, here. Logged as one Administrator user, I had options to install plugins and was able to import. Logged in as another Administator user, I had exactly the problem fourjandals had, and also couldn't install plugins.

So, the problem is real and is more complicated than a few posters here seem to think.
