Btw, this is what the problem looks like in IE. Note the blue box not going all the way to the right side and the purple highlight around my logo on the left hand side.

    Thx!

    Any suggestions?

It’s not really a matter of a wordpress problem, you just need to make things look the same in both. Each browser looks at codes differently and it usually takes some effort to make them the same.

I couldn’t tell you what’s wrong with it simply by looking at it, we would need to see some of your css and html codes.

Your theme is lacking several things in the header.php (like a doctype). Look at the default WordPress theme to see what is missing from yours. After this is done, fix your code errors:

Different browsers react differently to code errors.

I am also having the same issue. My blog use to look fine in both internet explorer and firefox, but recently it is missing the flash banner and is not letting me leave a comment in regular posts when viewing with internet explorer (version 7). My address is http://www.julieanderson-photography.com. I am not sure what other information you need. I have also searched the support forums for a solution without results. Thank you for your time.
