Not sure how concerned I should be, and hopefully not a improper question for this forum. I started a site using WP middle of last year and recently started a blog on there as well. Very infant stage blog just trying to learn the ropes a bit. Anyway, I've noticed a lot of registrations in from a couple sources in which they only change their username slightly, are obviously the same person. thepcresource and favormob domains are the two biggest standouts of this multiple registration thing. They haven't tried to spam or comment at all, so what's the reasoning for this.
I mean my site is for my remodel business and these domains with the multiple users/obviously same person situation have nothing to do with home improvements.
Guess I'm mostly concerned whether it could lead to a security issue particularly since analytics doesn't even reflect actual blog traffic to correlate with these registrations.

They haven't tried to spam or comment at all, so what's the reasoning for this.
Generally to later spam/comment.
If you don't need people to register for special access, I'd turn off open registration and instead allow open comments.

Posted 3 months ago #Thank you for the reply. I just took your advice and closed registration and opened comments, keeping them in need of approval before appearing. Guess I'll run with that for a while and see how it goes....thanks again.
