• Hello,

I seem to be having some sort of timeout error with my blog. I can browse the site and the admin features for a little while(0-1min, usually), but evenually the connection times out as I get a wait cursor and a Connecting… message in my browser. What’s worse is if I attempt to go to another site (from any computer on my network), I get a Looking up… message like my internet connection went down. This persists for anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes. I usually get this error when I am accessing the admin pages, but it has happened while browsing the main site as well.

Has anyone had a problem like this before?

    My server is running:
    Debian sarge (2.6.8-2-386)
    Apache 2.0
    PHP 4.3.10-15
    MySQL 4.0.24

My server is behind a router/firewall and is assigned a static internal IP address with port 80 (among others) forwarded.

Any help would be much appriciated.

  • Have you timed the intervals between the errors ? If they are regular I would suspect some background tasks.

I suspected that it could be my no-ip process since it was updating every 5 minutes and the problem happens in 0-5min intervals(usually within the first minute), but killing no-ip solved nothing. I also played with the Timeout and KeepAliveTimeout directive in apache, no help there either. I think it might have somthing to do with my router or network setup since all WAN comunication suddenly stops and doing a quick reset on the router gets it going again.

    My network looks like this:

    WAN>Linksys BEFSR41 Router>192.168.1.10 >web server (hosting blog)
    WAN>Linksys BEFSR41 Router>dhcp>Other computers on my network

Any ideas on where to start looking?
