Blog suddenly stopped working...help! (9 posts)

    One day it's working fine, the next (after host migrated from Plesk to cPanel) it doesn't. Please help me! The website is here: http://www.franchiserealestate.com/

    The main page is fine but clicking on any post links doesn't pull up the blog! Nothing was changed on it and the host doesn't know why it's broken. Would upgrading help or hurt?

    In what folder are your WordPress files, public_html or public_html/wordpress?

    If in public_html/wordpress then do you have a public_html/index.php file that has this?

    <?php
    /* Short and sweet */
    define('WP_USE_THEMES', true);
    require('./wordpress/wp-blog-header.php');
    ?>

    Did you update your permalinks structure after the move--might do that if you didn't.

    Once you get it straightened, then please consider upgrading.

    Thank you for replying - you're an angel!!! Yes, I have index.php (same code exactly as in your post) in public_html and W-P is in public_html/wordpress. I tried changing permalinks from option 1 to 2 but that didn't work so I changed it back.

    I've spent hours going through the doc's and forums looking for something similar to what's happened, but I can't find a cure yet. The reason it wasn't upgraded before was the original designer disappeared on me and another told me upgrading might break the design. Oh catch 22!

    So your public_html/wordpress/index.php file should be something like:

    <?php
    /* Short and sweet */
    define('WP_USE_THEMES', true);
    require('./wp-blog-header.php');
    ?>

    Yes, here's my public_html/wordpress/index.php:

    <?php
    /* Short and sweet */
    define('WP_USE_THEMES', true);
    require('./wp-blog-header.php');
    ?>

    Do you want my public_html/index.php? Would that help?

    Well you said your public_html/index.php looks like what I posted above... The public_html/wordpress/index.php file looks good. Wonder if an .htaccess file entry might be causing the problem.

    As a side note regarding your upgrade, you might consider joining the wp-pro email list at http://lists.automattic.com/mailman/listinfo/wp-pro and submitting a request for professional assistance to that email list.

    The only things that were changed during the move was the permissions were set to 755 and I had to update wp-config to show a new database prefix from wp_xxxxxx to new_xxxx.

    I got confused between the 2 - I'm sorry! The public_html/ index.php has alot more stuff. It starts with: <?php require('./wordpress/wp-blog-header.php'); ?>

    Those two index.php files seem okay. Can't confirm that you would have had to (or not) change your $table_prefix. Make sure your theme files moved correctly to public_html/wordpress/wp-content/themes/your-theme-here folder?
