    Hey guys,

Somehow my blog is appearing in a second sidebar that I haven’t called or created in anyway. I’m using twenty ten and my “Blog” page is a static page that I’ve redirected my blogroll to through settings>reading>posts page:blog. The page is also just using the default template.

    Here’s the page: http://www.theneversettingsuns.com/blog

Could anyone help me? This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.

  • Go to Settings -> Reading and change the front page back to a post page.

That won’t work because I still want my blog to be on the separate “Blog” page, not the front page. When I redirected my blog posts to go on the “Blog” page a few weeks ago it worked out great. It wasn’t until a few days ago that it started doing this.

I’ve also deactivated all my plugins to see if they were causing the problem and they’re not. I’ve also reinstalled wordpress and my twentyten theme.

    Somebody help?

There’s a problem in your current theme’s index.php template file.

I think you may be right. I haven’t changed the index.php at all, however the twentyeleven index.php was in my child theme folder. So I deleted that file and copied the index.php from my twentyten theme folder to my child theme folder.

So now the second side bar with the blog in it is gone but I have a blank space where my content/blog should be. Is there a code I need to write on that specific page to go along with the redirect I did in settings>reading?

If this is a child of Twenty Ten and you aren’t amending the index.php file, why is it in the child theme’s folder?

Hey esmi, you’re question led me to figuring this all out. The short-long story is I started developing this wite with wordpress 3.1 which came with twentyten 1.2. I used that theme to create a child theme that I’ve been edited. At some point twentyeleven ended up in my theme folder and I may have accidentally copied some php files from that directory to my childtheme instead of from twentyten. So, when I deleted twentyeleven and did a re-install of twentyten I ran into this weird problem that twentyten 1.1 is the only available version for that theme right now and it can’t be updated to 1.2. So, I just searched for twentyten 1.2 and added to my theme folder on my server and now my site is working. So yeah, thanks for your help, the questions led me to figure this out.

Glad I was able to help 🙂
